Personality type INFJ
The Confidant
You see beneath the surface.
- I Introverted, rather than Extraverted
- N Intuitive, rather than Sensing
- F Feeling, rather than Thinking
- J Judging, rather than Perceiving
You understand people in a way that can surprise them, and you often sense how something will unfold before it does. People tell you things they don’t tell anyone else.
You’re drawn to work and relationships that mean something, and you hold a quiet, long view of where things are going. You’d rather have three deep friendships than thirty easy ones.
Strengths
- Insightful about people and patterns
- Principled and purposeful
- A trusted, deep listener
- Quietly determined
Your growth edge
You can hide behind understanding everyone else. Being the one who sees means you’re rarely the one who’s seen. Being fully known is scarier, and worth it.
In relationships
You want depth or nothing. Small talk exhausts you; one real conversation can fill you up for days. You need someone who can meet you there and who notices when you’ve gone quiet. Watch for cutting people off when you’re hurt instead of telling them.
At work
You do your best work when it serves a bigger purpose: counselling, writing, strategy, advocacy, anything where insight helps people. You need time alone to think and a culture that isn’t loud for the sake of it.
Under stress
Under stress you may withdraw and overanalyse, or swing into uncharacteristic numbing: too much food, scrolling or spending, anything to switch your mind off.
A practice to try
Each evening, tell one person one true thing about your day, including how you felt about it. Let someone see in.
